New battle between titans: Samsung defeats Apple at Düsseldorf
After their last conflict in September when Samsung selling of its Galaxy Tab in Germany was blocked due to Apple’s complaint that the tablet looks similar to its iPad 2, Samsung Electronics decided to redesign the product and released Galaxy Tab 10.1N.
The performances of both Galaxy Tab 10.1 and iPad2 tablets are remarkable though in their manufacturing process are integrated different processors and devices. The exterior and the form are quite different; Samsung’s tab is wider and lighter while iPad2 is shorter and slimmer. Either way, they both have a compact and elegant aspect and this is the pattern that Apple considered to be jammed from its tablet design, reason for which Samsung tablets were interdicted on the German market.
The new Galaxy Tab 10.1N has different side cuts, a different frame and the loudspeaker was moved to the front. Otherwise, the tablet remains the same. Apple was not pleased with these changes either and filled again a motion, but this time Samsung got the selling credit.
The biggest difference between iPad2 and Galaxy Tab 10.1N is given by the iOS 4.3 and Android 3.0 respectively. Samsung Electronics is the only Android tablets producer and the competition is not that strong so Apple should not feel threatened. The research company Canalys revealed in a study that Apple sold with almost 10 million more tablets than Samsung. So Apple is the proven leader on the market while Samsung Electronics won a battle of a conflict that seems to extend also on the smartphone field.
