Larry Ellison and Ed Catmull at DX conference on their longtime friend Steve Jobs
Walt Mossberg met at the DX conference with Larry Ellison and Ed Catmull, two of Steve Jobs’ longtime friends. The former Apple CEO appeared on the D stage six times making a precious presence at the AllThingsD conferences.
This time, as a tribute to old customs, Walt interviewed Oracle CEO Larry Ellison and Ed Catmull, president and co-founder of Pixar Animation Studios and president of Walt Disney Animation Studio, about their friendship with Steve and about his life.
Both guests talked about how an inspirational leader was Steve Jobs. Overall, they argued that Steve made people believe in him by his kind and empathetic spirit and by his hard working and fair attitude; he self-identified with Apple and he was personally involved with details, and this cannot be copied. “Steve was unique. You cannot copy Steve,” said Larry.
