Tim Cook speaks about Apple – Facebook relationship. Hints for Facebook Integration in iOS 6?

Tim Cook participated at the D10 conference from All Things Digital and everyone was hoping that Apple’s CEO may reveal important data about new releases.  He plaid his cards close to his chest, meaning that he did not make statements about future products just hints that would attract attention. The virtual assistant Siri was also present in the debate, being claimed that fans would be really pleased with Siri’s new abilities.

When it comes to Facebook, Tim Cook stated that Apple and the social network have a very solid relationship and that Apple could do more with the company. Although he does not state anything Facebook Integration, there are hints that lead to a future collaboration.

“Facebook is a great company. I have great appreciation for them.”

Walt: But yet Twitter is integrated and Facebook is not. Why not?

“I think the relationship is very solid,” Cook says. “We have great respect for them. I think we can do more with them. Just stay tuned on this one.”

Rumors wonder around that Apple may give up on Ping, the music-oriented social networking and recommender system service developed and operated by Apple if we’re going to see Facebook Integrated in iOS. Tim Cook in person argued that there was a possible thought of killing the app, but Apple has not yet made up their mind.

Cook: I was carefully avoiding that. We tried Ping, and I think the customer voted and said “This isn’t something that I want to put a lot of energy into.”

Will we kill it? I don’t know. We’ll look at that.
