New Pictures and Features of iPhone 5 that are rumored to outrun Samsung Galaxy S3

Samsung Galaxy S3 has scored high from the moment it was released and it’s believed to break the sales records for the Android smartphones. It features Google Android operating system, Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0, S Voice (voice recognition that resembles to Siri), Direct Call (possibility of calling a person that one is writing the moment the device is brought to the ear), Smart stay (feature that keep your display on as long as you have your eyes on the screen due to the front camera that recognizes if you are looking at the screen), 8 Megapixels camera and full HD quality 1080p.

Now the latest generation of iPhone is rumored to outrun Samsung Galaxy S3, Apple still being the biggest manufacture of smartphones. Rumors about iPhone 5 feature Apple CPU A6, dual-core Cortex-A9 and iOS 6.

When it comes to the iPhone’s battery life everybody encounters trouble. It seems that the latest generation of iPhone will come with improvements for the “bug” because Apple’s battery suppliers are working hard to produce all the devices needed for the iPhone 5. It also depends on the manufacturers and the announcement of the release could be delayed due to the increased demand. So, the release date could be postponed to September or even October, according to Redhardware.

“If there is a battery challenge, we trust that Apple will be able to figure it out in time for a September launch”

Display of the latest generation of iPhone

All previous iPhone devices have come with 3.5-inch display and there is the possibility of coming with a 4-inch device on the market and 1,136 x 640 pixels resolution. It’s stated that measurements are likely to be near 125 mm by 58.5 by 7.4mm- a 10mm jump in height. The most visible chance in what concerns the design would be the metal panel on the back of the device. It will be made of metal and it would look flat. It looks like there’s no sign of the teardrop shape concept, the gadget coming with a flat back. It predicted to have Gorilla Glass 2, probably being thinner with the same strength as on the previous one or same thickness but with bigger strength.

New feature with 3D camera or optical zoom.

According to iTechpost, an anonymous claims possessing the latest generation of iPhone with 3D button at the bottom for the camera.

Upon tapping it, it brought up two options “like a camera then a map.”… can take 3D photos and “when you play the video back…it’s really cool.” The front camera, he added, was located on top of the speaker at the center.

Evolution of telephones – smartphones (iPhone) from 1970 to 2012

The evolution of telephones from 1925, the first version of the rotary telephone, has definitely known major changes. The 80’s came with the first flip cell phone, having the possibility of carrying your device with you everywhere.

iPhone was not the first smartphone that provided touch screen but IBM Simon, a rough non-colored big-sized device that appeared in 1994. In 2007, Steve Jobs introduced the latest generation touch screen device that changed completely the whole perspective of smartphones.

When the first iPhone was introduced, the CEO of Microsoft, Steve Ballmer believed that it would be a total failure because it didn’t possess a keyboard (essential for business men when writing emails) and because it was the most expensive phone in the world ($500).  Surprisingly, it became history.

Now, the iPhone is in big competition with the Android device for the best and most wanted smartphones on the market. The iPhone 5 is expected to chuckle over success from the first days of its arrival on the market and it’s no doubt that Apple will surprise its fans with even more advanced features.

Mobile App at SXSW revealed how Android and iPhone got sloshed

The live infographic from 100proof.me discovered the droll side of the smartphone frenzy. Beside the sharp competition between Android and iPhone users on technical capabilities and on the higher standards of their devices, there is also a drinking comparison. And I wonder who will brag most with the ‘bigger drinker’ status.

The live infographic is in fact an entertaining app developed by 100Plus.com for SXSW (South by Southwest), a company from Austin, Texas that organizes various events, to track one’s drinking and partying ways. The app is running for 3 days and so far, it revealed that the iPhone users are bigger drinkers; Android users consume 4.3 drinks per day, while the iPhone owners get a little more sloshed, consuming 5.7 drinks.

The infographic also revealed that drinkers at SXSW are with only 10 percent more men than women and that people aged 20 are the biggest drinkers.

The 100proof.me analysis is not as certain as expected because is in fact  a catchy trick that directs one to the Booze App, a fun little app that can help people improve their health and adopt healthy behaviors. It works like a quiz and at the end of it you get funny answers about what physical exercises are required to recover days of your life, lost after a night of drinking, such as digging a ditch or boxing like kangaroos.

Just Mobile Xtand Go

The accessory is ideal for placing your gadget in your car, of securely mounting your iPhone or iPod touch and it could be removed only by the user and not by a strong turn-over of the car. It really comes in handy while travelling because of its compact design and removable components and because you can’t afford to ”flick through” your device all the time.

Rest assured that the gadget is out of harm’s way thanks to the mini-screw-driver that is stored in the arm for tightenings hinges. It could also be used for other devices thanks to the Go button that provides universal support (smartphones, music players and sat-navs.)

What captured our attention was the fact that although it keeps the device safe on the bord or on any angle of the car it keeps the dock connector free in case of charging. For $39.95, the user can purchase Just Mobile Xtand Go from Apple Store.

Nielsen survey reveals the determinants of the smartphone ownership

A Nielsen survey from January revealed that the U.S. smartphone ownership grew in relation to age and income. It turned out that the young and the wealthy are the most frequent smartphone owners.

The survey was achieved on a sample of 20,000 mobile consumers and established two most relevant determinant of the smartphone ownership: age and wealth.

According to the age determinant, people in the 25-34 age group are the most popular smartphone owners out of which more than a half already having one while the rest of them got a their own in the last three months. An interesting detail worth mentioning is that even 22% people with 65+ ages got a smartphone in the last three months.

The survey brings no mention about a certain company, but I dare to suspect that in the last three months people bought mostly iPhones, judging after Apple’s successful holiday quarter.

When counting both the age and the income the situation gets a naturally turn. People in the 55-64 age group and that are wealthier booked a higher rate of interest than those in the 35-44 age branch.

Apple scored high in the last few months with the iPhone selling, even on the secondary market so there should be no surprise that most of the smartphone owners have an iPhone, choosing especially the 4S model.

HTC’s weakness revealed: the iPhone

In times gone by HTC was one of the most popular smartphone and the first to use Android. One could not possibly think about a HTC without Android and vice versa. But the strong collaboration between the two companies began to faint when Android associated with Google to build the Nexus One thus, Samsung started its ascendancy. Once with the release of its iPhone 4S, customers chose Apple to be the leader in the U.S. smartphone market, leaving the HTC on a saving-grace 3rd place.

The Taiwanese company’s fourth quarter booked a 26% profit drop and selling didn’t go well in this quarter either. HTC is facing a strong competition in which it has to overlook giants as Apple and Samsung. Is quite demanding to picture this out; Apple’s main revenue source is the iPhone and the last selling announcement was outstanding. On the other hand, Samsung reached the first place as a worldwide smartphone maker, according to IDC.

This being the situation, you might say that HTC needs to capture a golden fish. But the company found the bait that will make the golden fish come to it: four new appealing smartphone models that use Android are to be released on the market in few weeks. Apple should now fear also HTC and not only Samsung.

Apple is arguing both with Samsung and HTC for patent charges, this being only the beginning of a strong competition. Only the number of smartphones sold will picture out the winner.

Apple finds its “vicious circle” within a second market

Each time Apple releases new products, loyal customers and not only rushes to update their gadgets collection, there’s no doubt about it. What makes other wonder is where the old devices go when replaced.

A study developed by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners shows that almost all buyers send their old iPhones and smartphones to a secondary market that is based on reselling and also on gifts. The devices in this market were 49% iPhones, 21% BlackBerrys and 15% Android.  Reselling sounds convenient, but how much improves the benefits for Apple when iPhones are simply given to someone else for further usage.

Mike Levin, CIRP co-founder, shared his opinion about this situation to AllThingsD:

“We think the secondary market is both detrimental and beneficial to Apple,” said Levin. “It hurts Apple because it creates competition for new iPhones, which we see in the relatively modest sales of reduced-price iPhone 4 and free iPhone 3G units. But it also benefits the company because used iPhone customers aspire to own the newest and best iPhone, so they are likely future new phone customers. In fact, they are likely new entrants to the Apple ecosystem who otherwise would not have found a way in.”

So after all Apple collects its benefits from this second market, which proved rewarding also for two other big mobile companies and iPhone carriers in the United States, namely AT&T and Verizon. Each phone given as a gift represents a new Apple consumer and most of all a future customer.

Online shopping increasingly dominated by mobile

The mobile commerce growing was influenced of course by the boom sales in smartphones market and a bigger number of websites which offer mobile support. Despite this spectacular growing, the mobile navigation may not always be convenient for the retailer because lately, more and more users prefer to use mobile apps while shopping inside a store and check the competition offers. The study of customer satisfaction with top retail mobile sites and apps released yesterday by ForeSee revealed the online shoppers satisfaction when buying online by mobile versus web.

The leading retailers are Apple and Amazon both for mobile (Apple appreciated more than Amazon) and web experience (Amazon appreciated more than Apple) followed by Dell, Netflix and eBay. The mobile scores were retrieved from 3,000 visitors to apps and mobile sites for the top 40 U.S. retailers’ websites. The whole piece of information about online shoppers counts more than 8500 responses from the retailers above. Responses were collected via FGI Research’s Smart Panel.

We observe the same general move on the market along 2011: consumer preferred smartphones against PCs and started to buy more by phone than by personal computer. Here are the statistics of online shoppers:

Although a big part of users browse commercial sites by phone, only 15% of them decide to buy using the mobile interface.

Will iPhone support T-mobile 3G band in the near future?

If you want to purchase an iPhone in US, you have three important retailers: AT&T, Sprint and Verizon. It is obvious that every mobile service provider would want to integrate their services with iPhone devices, especially when it comes to wireless carriers. But for T-Mobile USA, there are still problems in bringing  iPhone to their network because their 3G network radio frequency band it’s not fully supported by the current iPhone hardware.

T-mobile CTO Neville Ray suggests, in a comment on CNET, that next iPhone chipset will support T-Mobile’s AWS 3G band, but Apple will decide which carrier network is technically capable to get iPhone.

So, what will it be the Apple strategy for iPhone availability expansion in US?
